Parenting Class

Parents of children (ages 0 - 18), join us on Sunday mornings for a 10-week class!

We will study and discuss Paul Tripp's teaching, Getting To The Heart Of Parenting.

Permanent behavioral change only occurs when the heart of a person is changed by grace. Getting To The Heart of Parenting covers principles of grace for children ages 0-5, 6-12 and 13-18.  Learn how to become an instrument of heart-changing grace in the lives of your children!

This 10-week course is from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the downstairs fellowship room.

Nursery care and children's Sunday school are provided during this time.

Women's Bible Study
Sep

to Nov 6

Women's Bible Study

Join us Monday evenings, 7:00-8:30 p.m., at church for a 9-week study beginning September 11.

This is a Gospel-centered study on Eve, Sarah and Mary through the book Transformed:  Life-taker to Life-giver (by Karen Hodge and Susan Hunt).

Life-taker and life-giver are such descriptive terms that we instinctively know what they mean, and deep in our hearts we know which we are in each relationship and circumstance.  We also know that self-effort fails us in our desire to give Life to those around us.  In this book Karen an Susan celebrate the hope and power of the Gospel to transform God's daughters into women who fulfill our creation design and redemptive calling.

If you would like to be part of this discussion, please RSVP to Jeanne Thomas by September 3 to reserve your copy of the book.

Missionary Support Emphasis

This month we are highlighting support for PEORIA RESCUE MINISTRIES.

Peoria Rescue Ministries is our Missionary Spotlight for the month of October.  Its first outreach, Peoria Rescue Mission, reaches homeless and needy men with the gospel of Christ, while providing for their physical needs with food, clothing, and shelter.  Since its inception, Peoria Rescue Ministries has expanded to include the Women’s Pregnancy Center, Victory Acres, Esther House, Barnabas Center, and an overseas sister ministry in Riga, Latvia.

Please be praying this month for the above programs of Peoria Rescue Ministries.  Donations are accepted in the wooden box below the missionary map in the sanctuary (cash or check made out to “HCPC Missionary Society”).

Annual Banquet
Join Peoria Rescue Ministries for an evening of great food, inspiring client stories, and encouraging words from featured speaker Dr. Bryan Chapell.  Doors open at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 17.  If you would like to attend, please contact Jerry & Joyce Easley.  Deadline is this Monday, October 9.

“Is this not the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?  Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter – when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? …. If you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like noonday.  The Lord will guide you always…. You will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”   - Isaiah 58:6-7, 10, 11a, 12b

Women's Bible Study

Monday evenings, beginning January 23, we will unpack the book of Proverbs in a 9-week study of A Woman's Wisdom: How the Book of Proverbs Speaks to Everything, by Lydia Brownback.

This study shows how the Bible speaks to real life issues such as money, purity, marriage, and the day-to-day grind.  This book contains three parts:
     1. What is wisdom and why does it matter?
     2. Six things wise women know
     3. A portrait of wisdom
A Woman's Wisdom gives women a way to be wise, to know the very Author of wisdom, and to understand how to apply His relevant riches.

This 9-week study begins January 23 and runs through mid-April.
Monday evenings 7:00-8:30pm in the church's main level classroom
Arrangements can be made for babysitting if needed.

THIS STUDY IS OPEN TO ALL WOMEN WHO ARE SEEKING TO KNOW GOD BETTER.

If you are interested, find contact information for our church here:  http://www.hannacitypres.com/contact/
