This month we are highlighting support for SAMARITAN'S PURSE.
After sharing the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus said “Go and do likewise.” That is the mission of Samaritan's Purse—to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel.
Samaritan’s Purse is a Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love, & serving the church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
“As Jesus was about to ascend into Heaven, He promised His discicples, ‘You shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’” (Acts 1:8) When we talk about reaching the ends of the earth, consider the shoebox gifts sent in Jesus’ Name through Operation Christmas Child, an arm of Samaritan’s Purse. Over the years, Samaritan’s Purse has delivered these simple but special Christmas gifts to 135 million boys and girls in more than 150 countries.
Every shoebox you pack represents another opportunity for you to share the love of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a child in need. Some of these children live in such deep poverty that they have never received a Christmas present. Many are growing up in such spiritual darkness that they have never heard of Jesus. Samaritan’s Purse is working with unreached people groups on five continents. The goal this year is to reach 12 million more children with a simple shoebox gift packed with the love of Jesus.
1. Pray for the children receiving shoeboxes sent from our church and others around the world.
2. Pray for the ongoing hurricane relief efforts of Samaritan’s Purse, both in the US and abroad.
3. Pray for the leadership of Samaritan’s purse as they forge the direction of the ministry.
Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes will be taken to the distribution center THIS TUESDAY, NOV 14th. Please bring your boxes to the church no later than Nov 12. Call Shirley Wilson for more information.
